Making Trackbacks
So anyway, I am going to write a little about Nate’s site here. I feel the need to do so because I want to track back to his puny little server. He’s luck though, he recently got around to finally putting some proper electrical wiring on that bad boy. Now, if only he could get a better DSL connection so that his website isn’t slow as shit. Whoops, pardon the language.

The Bike Is Home!
I bought a new bike the other day. Well….not so much new as new to me. I got it from Working Bikes. It needed a new rear rim, two new tires, the front rim trued, new grip tape, new brakes and an adjustment, work on the chain, and work on the derailer. So, I took it to Russ who happens to work at Kozy’s Bike Shop. He said if I left it there for a while, he would see what kind of parts he could...

Critical Mass
Friday evening I participated in the Chicago Critical Mass. We got to bike south to Comiskey Park (a.k.a. The Cell).

Michigan Ave Accident
There are quite a few construction vehicles parked in Millennium Park. One such construction vehicle happened to be parked on an incline this afternoon. The incline was on the Michigan Ave facing side of the park. That vehicle’s parking brake snapped and the truck crashed down the slope and careened right into a bus on Michigan. Right now it is believed that two women were crushed between the bus...

Should I Bother With CMS?
I have several clients who would do well to implement a back-end for their sites. This might include a database of their products or a GUI interface for article editing. I put a back-end on one site, but have found that the client just ignored that entire part and took the site at face value. They look at it as a static entity that requires a web designer for any changes. …they don’t care...

Strange Search Strings
I was checking out my stats page, and jeez do I get some weird search results on my site. My top search string is “Leftover Crack”. Leftover Crack is a band that I think is freaking amazing and that should play out more often and definitely needs to put out a new album soon-ish. I saw them at the Fireside Bowl not too long ago. Before that, I had seen them at a show in this tiny, depressed town...

Nighttime Digital Photo Experiment
I know that digital cameras are still no good at all for professionals. This is especially true when it comes to taking photos at night. Keeping the CCD exposed on a digital camera does not have quite the same affect as doing it on a film camera. You can see some excellent low light photography here, at justin’s site, and here, at rob’s site. If you insist on using digital cameras at night,...

Cute Members of the Clueless Majority
Good god! I want a cute member of the clueless majority who actually listens to me. That would be amazing. And maybe, just maybe, I could actually get lucky. I just wish that the matter of Developers Widows was entirely untrue. Unfortunately, it is quite the opposite. Perhaps, some day, those of us who work on such things will discover that we can have a life outside this profession. Anyway,...

Getting Ripped Off by High Schoolers
A friend of mine, Nate Baker, showed me his referrer logs the other day. The state of his logs was completely ridiculous. Nate Baker takes really really cool photos of bands. ( He also does other things.) Now, all this artwork does not exactly get bought by art collectors at a phenomenal rate. Nate pays for web hosting. When you pay for web hosting for a website such as minno9.com, you pay to...

I hate SEOs
I hate search engine optimizers, as we may or may not all know. Now there is a search engine optimization contest going on. If you enter, you have to get your entered site to be at the top of a for Nigratude Ultramarine. Anil Dash has written a little post about all this and is interested, just as I am, in seeing a real blog win and not any of those damn annoying people who stoop so low as to...

Nate Royer and Is Too Big for this Small Box of a...
When I first met Nathan Royer he had built a flash movie for his web class. It was damn good! a little more than a year later I’ve managed to ween him off of that infernal medium and turn him onto other excellent things. I’m so proud to be a friend to Nate. He’s come farther than I would think anyone could in such a short time. He’s got a kickass new server, a sweet, community website, a great...
