I wanted to use MarsEdit with the XML-RPC release for Textpattern 4.0.x. It was giving me a ton of problems and I had followed the guidance of the developer to the T. I was looking through the code recently and noticed that it’s support for the MetaWeblog API was best. It seemed to be built off that particular API and extended to others.
To configure MarsEdit, add a new blog. The RPC URL should be set to “http://www.yourdomain.com/rpc” if that is the folder you have the two RPC files in. Then choose “Other MetaWeblog-compatible” from the “Software” dropdown.
That’s it. Really. Now MarsEdit will play nice with Textpattern and you can write, edit, update, and delete entries all from the comfort of the MarsEdit Interface. Beautiful!
