Steve Heffernan (zencoder) took the HTML 5 Boilerplate project and turned it into a Wordpress theme template. He seems to have abandoned the project 2 years ago.

About a year ago I resurrected it and continued to improve upon it. I feel I’ve got a pretty decent Wordpress theme starting spot in this theme.

My goal is to eventually turn it into a theme that easily supports multiple languages and supports child themes, so that you can just continually update the theme within your themes directory directly from the repository and all the themes built out of it automatically pick up the changes.

Incutio PHP HTTP Client Update

I mostly work within various frameworks and environments where I don’t require standalone HTTP Client libraries, but in some instances I just need quick one-off scripts with fairly simple interactions. Until recently, the original Incutio PHP HTTP Client has served me fairly well.

The Incutio class seemingly hasn’t been updated since 2003, but it remains to simplest standalone class that I can find on the Google. Unfortunately, some of the bits within the library don’t work well within anything but a fairly narrow set of situations, so I decided to extend the library a bit.

Request Methods

At the time of its 2003 update, the Incutio class supported GET & PUT operations. Now, it also supports PUT and DELETE. While GET appends any data provided as GET variables in the URL (?[var name]=[var value]) POST, PUT, and even DELETE attach the data within the content and provide, at minimum a Content-Length header. You should probably provide a Content-Type header when making these requests.

get($path, $data, $headers)
post($path, $data, $headers)
put($path, $data, $headers)
delete($path, $data, $headers)
quickGet($full_url, $data, $headers)
quickPost($full_url, $data, $headers)

Headers

Previously, a bunch of the headers within the requests were automatically & permanently set. This could cause problems with APIs that take a hardline approach to what was expecting with particular calls. This specifically reared its ugly head with the “Content-Type” and “Accept” headers.

Now, with any call, you can specify any headers you need in as an array in the third argument of the function:

[FUNCTION NAME]($path, $data = null, $headers=array())

The quickGet and quickPost functions take the same arguments.
